En topographie, un point d'intérêt (POI)[1], en anglais Point Of Interest, représente un site utile, un point digne d'intérêt. Ce terme est utilisé par différents logiciels de navigation et appareils GPS; il désigne un endroit ou destination potentiellement intéressant(e).

Un POI peut être une attraction touristique, un hôtel, un restaurant, un distributeur de billets, une pharmacie, un centre médical, un magasin, une station-service, une école, etc., donc un endroit intéressant et/ou utile. Parmi les données de ces points on trouve les informations générales, telles que numéro de téléphone, adresse, mais aussi ses coordonnées géographiques.

Si l’on cherche un POI, en général on ne trouve que son nom et son adresse sur GPS.

Certains logiciels de navigation proposent des POI avec des informations enrichies telles que heures d’ouverture, numéro de téléphone, offres, gamme de produits/service, etc. Ces informations peuvent être couplées avec une image (logo ou photographie). C'est le cas de SmartPOI (dénomination déposée par NaviPro Hongrie) et de RichPOI (définition utilisée au niveau international).
