Patricia Rosemary Smythe (22 novembre 1928 – 27 février 1996), plus communément appelée Pat Smythe, fut une des premières femmes à faire du saut d'obstacle. Elle remporta la médaille de bronze dans l'épreuve du saut d'obstacles par équipe aux Jeux Olympiques d'été de 1956. Elle se maria en 1960 après les Jeux Olympiques d'été avec son ami d'enfance Sam Koechlin et devint Patricia Koechlin-Smythe. Elle vécu ensuite en Suisse (pays de son mari) et c'est là qu'elle écrivit la plupart de ses livres. Sam mourut en 1986 et Pat revint vivre en Angleterre, dans les Cotswolds.
Pat est morte à l'âge de 67 ans d'une maladie de cœur.
Elle écrivit notamment la série Three Jays qui fut traduite en Français sous le nom de Ji-Ja-Jo. Des 7 titres anglais seuls les six premiers ont été traduits en français.
Cette série fut publiée par les éditions Hachette dans la collection de la Bibliothèque verte, et fut traduite par Suzanne Pairault et illustrée par François Batet.
