Les Newars (Nepal Bhasa:नेवाः Newa or Newah, Nepal Bhasa ancien : नेवार Newar, नेवाल Newal) sont les premiers habitants de la vallée de Katmandou au Népal. Ils parlent le Newari, également appelé Nepal Bhasa, une langue tonale asiatique du groupe tibéto-birman. Leur population actuelle est d'environ 1,2 millions d'habitants.


Religion

D'après le recensement de 2001, 84,13% des néwars sont hindous et 15,31 sont bouddhistes
