La nèpe (Nepa cinerea) est une espèce de grande punaise aquatique des étangs et étendues d'eau peu profondes.
Les antennes courtes sont abritées dans des fossettes entre la tête et le thorax. Les pattes antérieures sont ravisseuses alors que les deux autres paires ne présentent pas d'adaptation particulière à la nage.
Cette punaise est prédatrice et peut même se saisir d'alevins. Ses déplacements sont cependant plutôt lents. Sa couleur lui permet de passer inaperçue dans les zones vaseuses encombrées de débris végétaux qu'elle affectionne. Elle respire par l'intermédiaire d'un siphon caudal en remontant périodiquement à la surface. Sa piqure est réputée douloureuse.
