Nuon est une entreprise néerlandaise de production, transport et distribution d'énergie. Elle opère surtout comme un opérateur de gaz et d'électricité. L'entreprise exerce ces activités aux Pays-Bas, en Belgique et en Allemagne. Elle a plus de 2,7 millions de clients et emploie environ 10 000 personnes dans ces trois pays[1].
Les principaux actionnaires de Nuon sont les provinces de Gueldre, de Frise, de Hollande-Septentrionale et la municipalité d'Amsterdam.
Après un projet de fusion échoué en 2007 avec Essent, son homologue néerlandais, de 24 milliards d'euros, Nuon est racheté en 2009 par le suédois Vattenfall pour au total 10,5 milliards d'euros[2].
