Nigel Richards est un joueur néo-zélandais de Scrabble. Il est le champion du monde actuel de Scrabble anglophone ayant remporté la finale du tournoi en 2011 contre Andrew Fisher d'Australie. Il est le seul joueur à avoir remporté le titre plus d'une fois.
Il fut aussi le champion du monde en 2007. Il s'est qualifié pour la finale en remportant 19 parties sur 24, le 2e meilleur total de victoires de l'histoire de la compétition, Adam Logan avait 20 victoires sur 24 en 2005. Dans la finale, il a battu le Malaisien (qui avait gagné 18 parties sur 24) trois manches à zéro avec trois scores supérieurs à 400.
Richards est aussi le seul joueur d'être le champion du monde et le champion des États-Unis en même temps. En 2008, il a remporté la National Scrabble Championship des États-Unis contre Brian Cappelletto. Richards est aussi le joueur le plus titré de l'histoire de l'International de Thaïlande, le plus grand tournoi de Scrabble anglophone au monde. Il a gagné 7 des 20 éditions depuis la 1re en 1989, et a gagné 7 des 10 dernières éditions.
