New York Drama Critics' Circle Award
Le prix du "Cercle des Critiques Dramatiques de New York", appelé New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, est décerné par vingt-deux critiques dramatiques issus de journaux quotidiens, de magazines, et d'agences de presse nationales, tous provenant de la métropole new-yorkaise. L'organisation, fondée en 1935 à l'Hotel Algonquin, était composée entre autres de Brooks Atkinson, Walter Winchell et Robert Benchley.

Histoire du Prix
Le prix récompense chaque année (au mois de mai) la meilleure nouvelle pièce de théâtre de la saison. Quatre autres prix peuvent être accordés: la meilleure musique, la meilleure pièce étrangère, la meilleure pièce étasunienne et/ou la mention spéciale du jury. C'est le plus ancien prix théâtral des États-Unis après le Prix Pulitzer (Pulitzer Prize for drama). Le premier a été décerné à Maxwell Anderson pour sa pièce Winterset, en 1936.
