Nejd
Le Nejd est un plateau entouré par le Nefud, Dahna, les montagnes de Hejaz et 'Asir ainsi que par des étendues désertiques.
Le Nejd ou Najd (نجد) est une région du centre de l'Arabie saoudite et comprend, en particulier, la capitale de cet État, Riyad.
Le Nejd est un plateau situé entre 762 et 1 525 mètres. La partie orientale comprend plusieurs villages établis sur des oasis, tandis que le reste du plateau est occupé par des bédouins nomades.
La région fut conquise sur l'Empire ottoman par Abd al-Aziz ben Abd al-Rahman Al Saoud, qui s'y tailla un émirat grâce à son alliance avec Mohammed ibn Abd el-Wahhâb (1703 - 1792) entre 1899 et 1912. En 1932, le Nejd devint une province de la nouvelle Arabie saoudite.
