- Mismatch en psychologie évolutionniste désigne une caractéristique qui était utile à la conservation de l'espèce il y a des millions d'années mais qui n'est plus adaptée au monde d'aujourd'hui.
- Mismatch en biologie moléculaire désigne un mésappariement, c'est-à-dire un appariement des brins d'ADN non-conforme aux principes biochimiques. On parle de Mismatch repair pour désigner le système de réparation de ces mésappariements, un mécanisme très conservé dans l'ensemble du vivant.
- La mismatch negativity est une onde cérébrale observée en électro-encéphalographie lorsqu'un nouveau stimulus apparaît dans une séquence de stimuli identiques.
