Les microsomes sont des fragments de membranes du réticulum endoplasmique.
Plus précisément, il s'agit de vésicules provenant de la fragmentation du réticulum endoplasmique.
Il existe deux sortes de microsomes :
- les microsomes rugueux (portant des ribosomes) ;
- les microsomes lisses (sans ribosomes).
Il s'agit également de vésicules provenant de la fragmentation de l'appareil de Golgi et de la membrane plasmique lors d'une centrifugation, on parle alors de fraction microsome.
