Office Web Apps est une version en ligne (disponible via un navigateur) de Microsoft Office, elle inclut des versions en ligne de Word, Excel, PowerPoint et OneNote, dont les fonctionnalités sont toutefois réduites par rapport aux logiciels payants installés sur un disque dur. Ce composant, qui peut s'installer à demeure au dessus de SharePoint, existe également en nuage sous deux formes principales:

Dans ces deux derniers cas, cette application possède les avantages du cloud computing, l'accès à partir de tout ordinateur relié à l'Internet, notamment. En lançant ce service en juin 2010, simultanément à la suite logicielle Office 2010, Microsoft suit le chemin tracé par Google avec Google Documents.
