Le mégapixel est une unité de mesure de la définition d'un capteur d'imagerie numérique.
Le préfixe mega signifie « un million ». Un mégapixel équivaut donc à un million de pixels (par exemple, 1 000 pixels de large sur 1 000 pixels de haut).
En 2009, la quasi totalité des appareil photos commercialisés avaient des capteurs de plusieurs millions de pixels, en général de 7 à 12 mégapixels.
