Lucius Licinius Murena
Lucius Licinius Murena, fut une personnalité de la Rome antique, patricien de la gens Licinia, fils du consul Lucius Licinius Murena.
Il est élu consul en octobre 63 av. J.-C., contre Catilina et le jurisconsulte Servius Sulpicius Rufus et doit entrer en fonction début -62. Lors de la crise opposant Cicéron à Catilina, il est attaqué pour brigue (corruption des électeurs) par son concurrent malheureux Sulpicius, qui est soutenu par Caton.
Cicéron assure sa défense (Pro Murena) et le fait relaxer, malgré sa probable culpabilité, en argumentant sur l’intransigeance malvenue de Caton, vue la gravité de la situation de la République, menacée par le complot organisé par Catilina.
