Le Vampire est une nouvelle écrite par John William Polidori publiée en 1819 dans le New Monthly Magazine. Bien que ce ne soit pas dans cette nouvelle que l'on trouve la toute première apparition du vampire dans la littérature (voir un poème de John Stagg), ce texte lança le thème. Le personnage principal est le noble Lord Ruthven.
