Le Long Island Sound, en français « détroit de Long Island », est une baie des États-Unis située entre les côtes du Connecticut au nord et celles de Long Island au sud dépendant de l'État de New York.

Géographie

Le Long Island Sound est situé entre les côtes du Connecticut au nord et celle de Long Island ainsi qu'au sud-ouest. À son extrémité sud-ouest, dans la ville de New York, le Long Island Sound est relié à l'Upper New York Bay par l'East River. Faisant partie de l'océan Atlantique, de nombreuses rivières s'y déversent dont le Connecticut.

La baie est parfois considéré comme la frontière naturelle entre la Nouvelle-Angleterre et les États de New York, de Pennsylvanie, du New Jersey, du Maryland et du Delaware.
