Alexandre Osipov dit Sacha est né en 1894 à Orenbourg (Russie)

Héros d'une saga historique écrite par Philippe Ehly en plusieurs tomes, d'après un personnage ayant réellement existé en Russie : Les Mémoires d'Osipov.

Cosaque de la Garde en 1911, après son éducation militaire à l'Académie Cheremetev de Saint-Petersbourg, il mène une vie d'aventures à la fin du règne de Nicolas II, en Russie, en Asie centrale et dans les Balkans.

Il participe aux deux guerres balkaniques, à la Première Guerre mondiale, à la chute de l'empire russe et aux premiers pas du régime soviétique.
