Niu Mo Wang 牛魔王 est un yaoguai (démon de la mythologie chinoise), un mówáng, c'est-à-dire un 'roi démoniaque' à tête de taureau (niu). Il est plus particulièrement connu à travers son apparition dans Le Voyage en Occident où il est le maître de la 'Montagne de feu' (huoyanshan 火燄山) qui brûle constamment, causant sécheresse et chaleur insupportable dans la région et bloquant le passage de Tang Sanzang et de sa troupe. Sun Wukong tente de voler l'éventail magique bajiaoshan (巴焦扇) de Tieshan gongzhu (鐵扇公主), femme de Niu Mo Wang, seul instrument capable d'éteindre le feu. Finalement, le démon-taureau est vaincu avec l'aide de Nezha. Niu Mo Wang a un fils nommé Hong haier, (紅孩兒), 'enfant rouge'.
