Synopsis

Ce qui suit dévoile des moments clés de l’intrigue.

Penny Hale quitte son pensionnat pour retrouver son père à un hôtel très chic de New York. Au lieu de retrouver l'appartement le plus grand et le plus confortable, Penny retrouve son père ruiné devenu électricien au sous-sol. Penny est surprise en train de chanter une chanson dans l'hôtel et est attrapée par Mr. Waters qui lui prévient que la prochaine fois, Penny devra quitter l'hôtel avec son père. Elle rencontre Milton, un jeune garçon bouclé et avec des pantalons courts. Elle sympathise avec le jeune homme et est assez contente jusqu'au jour où son père lui explique que quant il était avant architecte, il avait fait un projet de maison qui n'est jamais finie est montre à la petite fille un dessin dans un journal est dit que l'Oncle Sam (l'Amérique) a besoins d'argent mais comme il est fort il réussira à s'en sortir. En voyant l'oncle de Milton, l'oncle Sam se faire poursuivre par des journalistes, Penny croit que c'est lui qui a besoin d'argent et organise un spectacle.

  • Au début du film on entend un morceau instrumentale lorsque Shirley descend l'escalier du pensionnat. Le morceau n'est autre que "On Good Ship Lollipop" du film Bright Eyes.
