Johnathan Thurston, né le 25 avril 1983 à Brisbane (Queensland), est un joueur australien de rugby à XIII qui évolue dans le club des North Queensland Cowboys. Il est également international australien et dispute avec les Queensland Maroons le State of Origin. Il joue au poste d'ouverture ou de demi de mêlée. Il mesure 1,79 m et pèse 83 kg.
Thurston fait ses débuts en NRL, en 2002, avec l'équipe des Canterbury Bulldogs. Barré par Sherwin et Anasta chez les Bulldogs, Thurston fait son retour dans le Queensland en signant pour les Cowboys avec lesquels il atteint la finale de la NRL en 2005. Il fut élu par deux fois joueur de l'année de la NRL, en 2005 et 2007. D'origine aborigène, il use de sa notoriété pour aider sa communauté.
