L'Interface Message Processor (IMP) était le nœud de commutation de paquets utilisé pour connecter les ordinateurs à l'ARPANET à la fin des années 60 et pendant les années 70. C'était la première génération de ce qui s'appelle aujourd'hui routeur[2],[3],[4].

Les IMP étaient au cœur d'ARPANET pendant 20 ans, jusqu'en 1989.
