Hokule'a est une grande pirogue double célèbre pour avoir réalisé en mai-juin 1976 un voyage de 5 370 kilomètres sans instrument de navigation entre Hawaii et Tahiti, voyage qui permettait de prouver la capacité des anciens Polynésiens à passer d'île en île dans l'océan Pacifique et donc à établir une parenté irréfutable entre les différentes populations du triangle polynésien.
