12 play

12 play est le second album de R. Kelly. Avec cet opus, R. Kelly se révéla en tant qu’auteur-compositeur-interprète-producteur, dévoilant un artiste talentueux, capable de donner de la voix sur des slows sublimes.

La production musicale du CD est basé sur la séduction, (Your Body's Callin ; Bump N' Grind), mais aussi sur la sexualité. Ainsi, l’haletant Sex Me, chanson de 11 minutes, est censée durer le temps d'un câlin.

A l'opposé, R. Kelly laisse aussi parler ses émotions profondes avec Sadie, une chanson dédiée à sa mère décédée.

12 Play s'est écoulé à plus de cinq millions d'exemplaires aux États-Unis (5x platine).

12 Play est également le premier volet d'une trilogie comprenant également TP-2.Com (2000) et TP.3 Reloaded (2005).
