Gregorian

Gregorian est un groupe de musique allemand dirigé par Frank Peterson, reprenant de nombreux titres du répertoire populaire moderne (entre autres Depeche Mode, ou Led Zeppelin) mais dont les chanteurs s'inspirent de l'esthétique du Grégorien. Il s'inscrit dans la pop grégorienne (avec l'ensemble Enigma (musique) notamment) apparu vers 1990.

Une grande mise en scène comprenant robe de bure, chorégraphie (très limitée par l'habit cependant) et jeu de lumière, nimbe leurs productions (video clips, concert, esthétique...). Tous ces éléments ne font que reprendre l'image populaire actuelle du moine : robe de bure très épurée, absence totale de vibrato dans la technique vocale (se rapprochant bien plus du cliché de la psalmodie grégorienne, linéaire, que des pièces bien plus mélismatiques et demandant des chanteurs de très haut niveau) ou encore les atmosphères sombres, jaunes ou bleutées rappelant les couleurs qui napperaient la chapelle d'un monastère.
