Cette chanson a été utilisée dans la série TV La Petite Maison dans la Prairie dans l'épisode 15 de la saison 7 La Fête (Make A Joyful Noise) lorsque Joe Kagan, Marie et les élèves aveugles la chantent afin d'empêcher le mariage d'Hester Sue.
Une version Country a été enregistrée par le duo Simon & Garfunkel en 1964. La même année, la chanteuse française Marie Laforêt chantait « Viens, viens sur la montagne, là-haut il fait si bon … », qui ne faisait que traduire de façon profane et avec des mots plus modernes cette recherche de paix exprimée dans le gospel original[réf. nécessaire].
- Go Tell It On The Mountain est un roman autobiographique de James Baldwin (1924-1987), publié en 1953. L'auteur y dénonce le racisme et les injustices faites à la communauté afro-américaine aux États-Unis dans les années 1920. Ce livre est considéré comme un des chefs-d'œuvre littéraires de cette époque.
