Chaque année, les Eclipse Awards sont décernés aux meilleurs chevaux de courses américains, selon leur catégorie (âge, sexe, distance, etc.). Les lauréats sont désignés par la NTRA (National Thoroughbred Racing Association), le Daily Racing Form et la National Turf Writers Association. Les résultats sont annoncés en janvier. Le titre est un hommage au cheval britannique du 18 e siècle Eclipse. C'est l'équivalent américain des Cartier Racing Awards européens, des Thoroughbred racing awards australiens et des Sovereign Awards canadiens.
