Le département de la Guerre des États-Unis (United States Department of War) était un département de la branche exécutive du gouvernement des États-Unis qui était responsable des opérations et du maintien des forces terrestres (puis par la suite des forces aériennes) entre 1789 et 1947. Le département fut intégré dans le National Military Establishment le 18 septembre 1947 puis l'actuel département de la Défense le 10 août 1949.
Le département de la Guerre était dirigé par le Secrétaire à la Guerre (United States Secretary of War) qui était également membre du cabinet du président des États-Unis. On désignait aussi le département par War Office (office de la Guerre).
Quand il fut intégré au sein du National Military Establishment, le département de la Guerre fut renommé en département de l'Armée ce qui fit de lui l'un des trois départements militaires du gouvernement fédéral responsable de l'US Army. Au même moment, l'armée de l'air fut séparée du reste de l'armée et devint l'U.S. Air Force sous le contrôle du département de l'Air Force.
