Le Common Desktop Environment (CDE) est un environnement de bureau propriétaire pour UNIX initialement créé en juin 1993 par SunSoft, HP, IBM et Unix System Laboratories. Il s'agit au départ d'un environnement de bureau standard dans le système d'exploitation OpenVMS de Hewlett-Packard, (DEC Digital Equipement Corporation racheté par Compaq puis Compaq par HP).

CDE fut développé conjointement par HP, IBM, Novell et Sun Microsystems (qui l'utilisera comme interface par défaut pour Solaris et le projet OpenSolaris), en tant que membres du consortium Open Group.

Parmi les distributions Linux, seul RedHat utilisera CDE.
