Cette munition a été développée dans les années 30. Quelques Mauser C96 modèle 1930 (connu sous le nom Modèle 711) ont été effectivement chambrés pour recevoir ce calibre. Des exemplaires, rarissimes, de cette arme sont détenus dans le cadre de collections et sont donc parfaitement identifiés. Il s’agit d’un étui de 7.63 Mauser dont le diamètre a été porté à 8,15mm. La longueur de l’étui reste elle inchangée (25mm). Bien que référencée sous la référence 580 chez DWM, cette munition n’a pas dépassé le stade de l’expérimentation.
