Caleb Gattegno (1911-1988)

Caleb Gattegno, né le 11 novembre 1911 à Alexandrie et mort le 28 juillet 1988 à Paris, est un mathématicien et pédagogue d'origine égyptienne. Il a fait ses études et a enseigné en France et aux États-Unis.

Il est surtout connu pour La Lecture en couleur (Words in Color (en)) où il développe une méthode d'apprentissage de la lecture basée sur un code de couleurs pour chaque son. Chaque son est représenté par une couleur. En Français, il y a 37 sons, donc 37 couleurs.
