Cytochrome p450
Le cytochrome p450 (CYP) a une importance particulière en médecine et en pharmacie. En effet, cette enzyme est très impliquée dans la dégradation des molécules exogènes (xénobiotiques), en particulier des médicaments. Plus le cytochrome p450 est actif, et plus les médicaments sont rapidement détruits. De plus, le cytochrome p450 peut aussi hydrolyser (en participation avec le cytochrome p450 scc de la face interne de la mitochondrie) le cholestérol en prégnénolone qui est une hormone stéroïdienne.
Le cytochrome p450 est associé à la face interne du réticulum endoplasmique lisse.
