Bridgwater est une ville industrielle de 36 000 habitants du comté de Somerset, en Angleterre.

La ville était nommée du prince Walter (Gautier, ou Walscin) Douai après la conquête normande de l'Angleterre par Guillaume le Conquérant. Elle est jumelée avec la ville de La Ciotat.

Bridgwater est célèbre grâce à son spectaculaire carnaval de Guy Fawkes. Le plus grand carnaval illuminé du monde, il attire plus de 150,000 spectateurs chaque novembre.

Le 5e congrès international d'architecture moderne eu lieu à Bridgwater en 1947.
