Yellow Bird est un chaman Miniconjou de la tribu des Lakotas Miniconjous.
Rôle
Il a, selon l'armée américaine, influencé les Lakota lorsque ces derniers ont manifestés leur désaccord avec le fait que les soldats, craignant que des armes restent cachées, de commencer à fouiller les tentes des Indiens. La 7e cavalerie avait reçu l'ordre du commandant du département de la Platte, le général John Brooke, de désarmer le clan de Big Foot, le demi-frère de Sitting Bull. Par la suite, après les avoir escorté au camp et les avoir encerclé de toute part, l'armée les considérait comme des prisonniers virtuels. James W. Forsyth qui était à la tête du régiment, est arrivé dans la nuit et a attendu que le jour se lève pour désarmer les Lakota. Au matin, les hommes Lakota sont rassemblés et informés qu'ils doivent remettre leurs armes à feu, provoquant la colère des Lakota initialisés par Yellow Bird.
