WBFS, ou Wii Backup File System est un système de fichiers développé par les codeurs de Wii homebrew, kwiirk et Waninkoko. Il utilise le cIOS de Waninkoko et fonctionne en créant une partiition WBFS sur un périphérique USB ou une carte SD. L’application Wii homebrew peut ensuite être lancée pour faire un dump d’un jeu sur la partition. Les titres peuvent ensuite être lancé en utilisant un chargeur USB Wii, ce qui utilise le cIOS et l’USB 2.0 pour charger les jeux dans le périphérique externe.
Bien qu’il ne soit pas possible de charger nativement une partition WBFS dans un environnement Windows, il existe plusieurs applications, tel que WBFS manager, qui vous permet de transférer un fichier d’une image ISO vers un disque formaté en WBFS.
