The Wrong Object

The Wrong Object est un quintet belge de nu-jazz à géométrie variable. Inspiré par les esthétiques de Frank Zappa (à qui ils rendent régulièrement hommage sur scène) et du Soft Machine mais également influencé par des groupes récents tels que Amon Tobin, Jaga Jazzist et Aka Moon, il a consititué un répertoire personnel très hybride marqué, entre autres, par l'influence des musiques électroniques et des musiques néo-progressives.

Fondé par le guitariste belge Michel Delville en 2002, il a depuis lors multiplié les collaborations avec de nombreux musiciens de la scène jazz et rock belge et internationale, dont Elton Dean, Harry Beckett, Annie Whitehead, Robin Verheyen, Jean-Paul Estiévenart, Fred Delplancq, Damien Polard Alex Maguire et Stanley Jason Zappa. Leur production discographique et leurs tournées internationales ont généré un intérêt considérable dans la presse spécialisée et auprès des amateurs d'electro jazz[1]. "Stories from the Shed", leur dernier album studio en date, a obtenu un AMG Album Pick de All Music Guide[2].

Signés sur le label new-yorkais Moonjune Records[3] en 2006, ils préparent un nouvel album studio dont la sortie est prévue en janvier 2012.

Le composition actuelle du quintet est la suivante: Michel Delville (guitare, voix, electronics), Laurent Delchambre (batterie, electronics), Joe Higham (saxophones et clarinette), Bart Maris (trompette), Pierre Mottet (basse, electronics) et Antoine Guenet (claviers).
