Un slingshot pass (ou slingshot, en français dépassement en fronde) est une manœuvre populaire dans différents genres de sports mécaniques, comme en Formule 1 ou en NASCAR.
La préparation du slingshot se fait lorsque qu'un pilote se place juste derrière la voiture qu'il veut dépasser. Il bénéficie alors d'une moindre résistance de l'air (phénomène d'Aspiration) : les deux voitures se déplacent à la même vitesse, mais la puissance moteur de celle de tête est à son maximum, alors que la suivante, aspirée, dispose d'une petite réserve. Au moment de la manœuvre, elle plonge à droite ou à gauche et applique simultanément toute sa puissance moteur (accélérateur à fond), ce qui produit une accélération subite permettant le dépassement.
