L’Open Knowledge Foundation est une association à but non lucratif promouvant l’open knowledge, y compris l’open content et l’open data. Elle a été fondée en 2004 à Cambridge au Royaume-Uni.

La fondation a publiée l’Open Knowledge Definition et maintient plusieurs projets, tel que CKAN, le dépôt logiciel utilisé par de nombreux gouvernements pour leurs projets de données ouvertes. Elle a également soutenu le développement de l’Open Database License.
