Le Network monitoring, terme anglophone qui peut se traduire par surveillance du réseaux informatique est une des activités de gestion de réseaux réalisée par l'administrateur qui consiste à surveiller que le flux de données dans un réseau informatique reste suffisamment important et à remédier au problème si le flux baisse de trop. Les logiciels de détection d'intrusion font partie de la panoplie d'outils du Network monitoring.
