Katherine Swynford, née (de) Roet (25 novembre 1350-10 mai 1403), est la fille de Payne de Roet, héraut flamand du comté de Hainault qui est adoubé juste avant sa mort lors d’une bataille. Katherine devient la troisième femme du prince anglais Jean de Gand, duc de Lancastre, et leurs descendants forment la famille Beaufort qui joue un rôle majeur dans la Guerre des Deux Roses. Henri VII d'Angleterre, qui devient roi d’Angleterre en 1485, tient sa revendication du trône de sa mère, Lady Margaret Beaufort, qui est une arrière-petite-fille de Katherine Swynford. L’actuelle reine, Élisabeth II est ainsi une descendante directe de Katherine.
