John Bissell Carroll (5 juin 1916 – 1er juillet 2003) était un psychologue américain connu pour ses contributions en psychologie, en linguistique et en psychométrie[1].
Carroll propose un modèle du QI (1993) sur une capacité globale en amont, avec des capacités spécialisées en aval. Ainsi, à partir d'un dimension générale de l’Intelligence (le facteur g), correspondent à un deuxième niveau des intelligences plus spécifiques à des tâches proposées qu'il regroupe en intelligence fluide, intelligence cristallisée, la mémoire générale, la perception visuelle et auditive, la créativité, la vitesse cognitive numérique, la vitesse de temps de réaction.
