I'm the Urban Spaceman est le morceau le plus célèbre du groupe Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. La chanson, qui figure sur Tadpole, le troisième album du groupe, sortit le 11 octobre 1968, et atteignit la 5e place dans les charts anglais. Elle fut écrite par Neil Innes et produit par Paul Mc Cartney et Gus Dudgeon sous le pseudonyme d'Apollo C. Vermouth[1]. La face B, "The canyon of your mind" fut écrit par Vivian Stanshall. Innes gagna le prix Ivor Novello Award de la meilleure chanson en 1968 pour "I'm the Urban Spaceman".
La chanson fut jouée sur la scène du Hollywood Bowl lors d'une représentation des Monty Python en 1982, Carol Cleveland l’accompagnait en faisant des claquettes. Cette séquence a été immortalisée dans le film Monty Python à Hollywood.
