Baasa
Baasa, ou Baésa ou Baécha (hébreu בעשא), roi d'Israël, fut d'abord général du roi Nadab, fils de Jéroboam. Il conspira contre ce prince, le tua au siège de Gebbethon, usurpa le trône, qu'il occupa de 942 à 919 av. J.-C. (ou -909 - -886), et extermina toute la famille de Jéroboam. Il se souilla de crimes, se livra à l'idolâtrie et fit périr le prophète Jéhu. Il fut battu par Asa, roi de Juda.
