Howard Jacobson

Howard Jacobson (né le 25 août 1942 à Manchester) est un écrivain et un journaliste anglais. Il est est surtout connu pour ses romans de tonalité amusante qui brossent le portrait de personnages Juifs britanniques. Il a obtenu le Booker Prize for fiction en octobre 2010 pour son roman The Finkler Question [1],

Après des études en Angleterre et en Australie jusque dans les années 70, il commence à écrire au début des années 80 tout en étant journaliste,

Depuis Coming From Behind paru en 1983, Howard Jacobson a publié une dizaine de romans dans une veine comique où il se plaît à mettre en scène des personnages qui se définissent par leur judéité britannique, ce qui l'a fait nommé « le Philip Roth anglais »[2]. Son dernier roman (The Finkler Question, 2010) poursuit dans cette voie plaisante en mêlant l'émotion à l'humour juif[3] .

Howard Jacobson collabore aussi à des émissions de télévision.
