Autrefois connus sous le nom de Tremolo, El Motor (une anagramme de Tremolo) est originellement constitué de Fred Filo et Pierre-Alexandre Bouchard, deux amis d'adolescence provenant du Lac Saint-Jean. D'abord incapables de transposer le son électro-pop de Tremolo sur scène, ils se tournent vers un son plus indie rock et ressurgissent sur disque dotés d'un nouveau nom, El Motor. En 2007, ils offrent leur premier album éponyme, composé à l'aide d'un noyau de musiciens qui se greffe au groupe.

La formation s’est d’abord fait connaître en 2007 suite à la sortie de son premier album, El Motor. Le journal Voir a accueilli de façon très positive ce disque[1].
