Working-class playwright

Working-class playwright est un sketch du groupe anglais Monty Python, compris dans le deuxième épisode de leur célèbre série Monty Python's Flying Circus.


  • L'originalité du sketch vient du fait qu'il inverse l'ordre classique de l'ascension sociale entre les générations. Un enfant travaillant dans les mines rend visite à son père, acteur de théâtre au Royal Theatre. Celui-ci se plaint de son travail, énumérant toutes les difficultés rencontrées lors d'une apparition sur scène et n'arrive pas à comprendre le travail de son fils, qui lui explique en quoi l'emploi de mineur est passionnant ("Un jour, tu réaliseras qu'il y a plus dans la vie que la culture... Il y a la saleté, la fumée et la bonne et honnête transpiration").
