Voltron : Defender of the Universe est une série télévisée d'animation américaine diffusée en 1984 et 1985. La série regroupe en une seule histoire deux séries japonaises indépendantes l'une de l'autre : Hyakujû ô Golion/GoLion (52 ép.) et Dairugger XV (52 ép.). Cependant, les 20 derniers épisodes de Voltron mettant en scène Golion ont été spécialement réalisés par la Toei pour WEF et la série Voltron.
Ainsi, Tōei animation et World Events Productions produisirent 125 épisodes dont un épisode spécial et rallongé.
Une seconde série télévisée sur le thème et utilisant de la synthèse d'image a été produite seulement par WEP à la fin des années 1990.
En 2010 est prévu un film live de Voltron.
