Le char moyen type 97 Chi-Ha était un char japonais de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Après l'abandon de la recherche des chars lourds et des chenillettes, le Japon se mit à la recherche d'un char moyen. Le type 97, considéré comme trop coûteux, fut préféré après le début des hostilités en Chine, mettant de côté les considérations économiques.
Utilisé contre la Chine, il ne faisait pas le poids contre les chars occidentaux développés pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il resta pourtant le char standard japonais pendant tout le conflit.
