Trapped Under Ice est la 5e piste du 2e album du groupe Metallica Ride the Lightning sorti en 1984 et dure 4 min 04. C'est le morceau le plus court de l'album.
Cette chanson parle d'une personne qui vit comme un zombie. Le sentiment de gel est probablement engendré par la drogue. C'est la chanson la moins jouée en concert du groupe. Et ce morceau aborde le thème de la Cryonie, cette science qui consiste à congeler des corps et à suspendre leur métabolisme avant de les décongeler/réveiller des années plus tard.
Trapped Under Ice est la seule chanson de Metallica avec No remorse qui commence par un solo de guitare. De plus, ce morceau est l'un des plus rapides et énergiques de l'album avec Fight fire with fire faisant rappeler la vitesse et la rapidité des chansons extraites de Kill 'Em All.
Trapped Under Ice est incluse dans le jeu Guitar Hero: World Tour.
