The Joy Formidable

The Joy Formidable est un trio rock provenant de North Wales (Royaume-Uni) et résidant actuellement à Londres. Leur style musical a reçu les étiquettes Dream pop, Indie Dirge pop, les comparant à des groupes tels que les Pixies ou les Smashing Pumpkins. Ils firent leur première apparition scénique au festival In The City en 2006 sous le nom de Sidecar Kisses. Depuis, ils se sont séparés de leur bassiste, avant de changer de nom ainsi que de batteur.

Le groupe est composé de Ritzy Bryan (Chant/Guitare), Rhydian Dafydd (Chant/Basse) et Matt Thomas (Batterie). En 2008, The Joy Formidable a joué au Latitude Festival ainsi qu'aux Reading and Leeds Festivals. Ils ont joué pour la première fois en France le 15 Janvier 2009 à la Maroquinerie. Aucune nouvelle date française n'est prévue pour le moment.

A noter une date importante outre-manche, très prochainement, pour le lancement de leur premier EP intitulé A Balloon called Moaning. Un concert sera donc organisé à Londres le 17 Février 2009. Ce premier album contient les deux premiers singles du groupe, Cradle et Austere . A Balloon called Moaning est par ailleurs pré-commandable sur leur myspace officiel en édition limitée.

Le premier single Austere sorti le 18 Août 2008 a été entendu dans un épisode de la série britannique Skins .
