The Palace est un logiciel de messagerie instantanée, multi-utilisateurs, fonctionnant en mode client-serveur. Il a l'aspect d'un bande dessiné dans laquelle les message des utilisateurs apparaissent dans des bulles.
Créé par Jim Bumgardner, un employé de Time Warner Interactive, en 1994, et ouvert au public en novembre 1995 par communities.com, il a été abandonné en 2001.
Open Text Corporation en détient actuellement les droits, mais ne fournit aucun support. La communauté palacienne considère donc The palace comme abandonné.
