The Capital est un journal quotidien publié à Annapolis (Maryland). Il sert à la ville aussi bien qu'au Comté d'Anne Arundel et ses voisins de la Kent Island et du Comté de Queen Anne. Le journal est publié le soir en semaine et est livré le matin durant le week-end. Philip Merrill était l'éditeur jusqu'à son suicide en 2006.

Les débuts du Journal remontent à la création de la Maryland Gazette en 1727, qui fut plus tard publié par Anne Catherine Hoof Green. Aujourd'hui, la Gazette est une filiale du Capital publié dans le Nord du Comté d'Anne Arundel. La première édition comportant le mot "Capital" à être imprimé date de 1884 : le Evening Capital. Le mot "Evening a été supprimé en 1981.

Aujourd'hui, The Capital est tiré à raison de 50.000 exemplaires par jour et sur un site web : hometownannapolis.com

Le 3 janvier 2008, on révèle que le groupe Landmark Media Enterprises LLC qui possède The Capital, était à vendre.
